Art Gallery Kitchen
Bloomsbury, London.

This central London gallery exhibits global contemporary art as well as hiring out stylish venue space

The October Gallery in London’s fashionable Bloomsbury operates on many levels. It holds exhibitions, cultural events, runs children’s workshops and is hired out for social and cultural functions which can command high numbers of guests.

When the decision to refurbish the kitchen was made, the aesthetic side of the design was very important as it had to have a strong visual identity, in keeping with the gallery.

We solved this by specifying bespoke, brushed stainless steel cupboards and a multicolour granite worktop. The effect is stylish and contemporary yet, at the same time, completely workable as a catering kitchen. Chili Hawes, a director and founder of the gallery, loves the new kitchen as not only does it function perfectly on a commercial level but looks as though it’s an integral part of the gallery.

Chili took our advice on equipment and the kitchen was fitted with a 6 burner range with an electric convection oven, a salamander, a dairy fridge and a top of the range Nelson dishwasher. Storage maximises every last inch of space with special, pull out cupboards fitted to the corners and a segregated rubbish area reducing recycling space.
